Our story
Our vanilla plantation is first and foremost a family story.
My dad, Dharam, is a nature enthusiast with a green thumb.
Coming from a family of farmers, descendants of Indian indentured laborers, I am the 5th generation to cultivate the land.
Over the years, my father introduced me to the art of growing vanilla and passed on his passion for it to me. Today, the vanilla plantation is an integral part of our lives, and our daily lives are organized around it.
Capricious, the queen of spices is demanding. We give it our full attention and ensure that our vanilla grows in the best conditions. The organic vanilla plantation is a haven of peace where our exceptional vanilla grows away from prying eyes.
We invite you to come and meet us to discover the wonderful story that links us to this sublime Vanilla from Mauritius.
Dhareena, vanilla farmer
We grow vanilla Planifolia, one of the most well-known varieties of vanilla.
Epiphyte, vanilla is an orchid that grows mainly on a stake, a wood native to Mauritius. Our vanilla plantation is organically grown and requires a lot of attention.
Vanilla cultivation is demanding. It takes 7 years from the time the cutting is planted to the time the first vanilla pod is planted. The first flower appears after 4-5 years.
There are 3 steps to obtaining excellent black vanilla:
• Flowering – pollination
• The Harvest
• Drying
Each step is crucial and must be executed with expert precision.

"Dhareena's vanilla is of exceptional quality, used by pastry chef Marie Meunier to enhance her culinary creations at the Lux Grand Baie hotel.
The vanilla is harvested and slowly dried by hand, using artisanal methods to ensure a rich and subtle flavor. Savor this exceptional vanilla produced with passion in Mauritius.
